Hilton Stamford ~ Stamford, CT
Join us on Saturday, April 16, for DSF's Butterfly Bash, our annual signature event where we raise funds for research while honoring an individual or group of professionals who have gone above and beyond in the field of Dravet syndrome and related epilepsies. We are looking forward to celebrating this year with “An Evening in Casablanca” theme featuring live music by Nightingale Jazz Band, silent and live auctions, dinner and cocktails. We are pleased to welcome Kate Rayner from NBC Connecticut as this year's emcee!
DSF is excited to announce our 2016 Gala Honoree – Dr. Ann Poduri of Boston Children’s Hospital. Dr. Poduri is a clinician-scientist whose research is focused on understanding the genetic causes of human epilepsy with a long-term goal of creating models of human epilepsy and developing novel therapies. She serves on the faculty of Boston Children’s Hospital’s Department of Neurology, co-directs the Department’s Program in Neurogenetics, and runs the Epilepsy Genetics Program, a clinical consultation service for known or suspected cases of genetic epilepsy coupled with Dr. Poduri’s basic science laboratory. Dr. Poduri’s group studies genetic causes of early onset epilepsy—including inherited and de novo mutations in patients with severe early onset epilepsy and de novo somatic mutations in epileptic brain malformations. She is the Boston Children’s PI of the NINDS-supported Epilepsy Phenome/Genome Project and a Co-Investigator in the NINDS-supported Epi4K sequencing project studying the genetic causes of epileptic encephalopathies and brain malformations. While continuing work on gene discovery, Dr. Poduri’s group has begun modeling candidate epilepsy genes in the zebrafish model with the long-term goal of developing novel therapies for epilepsy that can be translated back to the clinic.
A big congratulations to our 2016 Spirit of Hope awardees: The Bubela Family. Leslie and Bert Bubela of Frisco, Texas along with their children Paige and Will have dedicated themselves to raising awareness for Dravet syndrome within their community since the inception of Dravet Syndrome Foundation. What began as a walk in our Steps Toward a Cure Series has transformed into an extremely successful Casino Night fundraiser. Leslie and Bert lead an amazing team of Texas families that have raised over $250,000 in the last 3 years. They are the embodiment of Hope.
Rooms are available at the hotel for our guests at the special rate of $90 per night, plus taxes. Room reservations can be made at this link.
